The wait is finally over and the fate of Kansas freshman Josh Selby has finally been announced.
The NCAA released a statement saying that Selby must sit out nine regular season games and pay a total of $5, 757.58 in impermissible benefits to a charity of his choice.
“Our members have made it clear that student-athletes who receive impermissible benefits must be held accountable,” stated Kevin Lennon, vice president for academic and membership affairs.
Selby, who had been cleared academically by the NCAA, has been waiting for the results on an ongoing investigation about his relationship with Robert “Bay” Frazier.
Frazier, who is the business manager of Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony, was believed to have been an advisor to Selby during his recruiting process and to have made some recruiting trips with him.
To sit out nine regular season games would put Selby in the Jayhawk lineup for the first time in Lawrence to face USC on Saturday, December 19th.
